Statue of Alberto La Rocca

He was an Italian policeman of Fiesole, Italy. He turned himself in to the Germans to save the life ten civilian hostages. On August 11, 1944, he was went into hiding, along with two of his comrades, Victor Marandola and Fulvio Sbarretti , to join the partisans. This gesture resulted in the Germans threatening to shoot the 10 civilian hostages if they didn't turn themselves in to save those innocent citizens.
