Stuart House, the main building, was built in 1867 for spinning and weaving. The clock tower was cast by the Saracen Foundry in Glasgow, famous for casting the decorative ironwork for Raffles Hotel in Singapore. East Lothian Council donated the mechanism from the historic 'Hayweights Clock' moved when building Brunton Hall.
