Quincy Medical Center

Quincy, United States

Quincy’s hospital opened in 1890 as a treatment center for granite workers suffering from dust inhalation. For 80 years, the hospital was owned by the city, and its presence was so prominent that the neighborhood around the facility became known as Hospital Hill. In 1999, the city sold the hospital to a non-profit. In 2015, Steward Health Care, which purchased Quincy Medical through Bankruptcy Court in 2011 closed the faculty. It’s closure left Quincy the largest city in New England without its own hospital.
