Unique Insect Window Art

Stafford, United Kingdom

This unique street art series of stained glass windows, depicting various insects, were installed into a permanent roadside wall in 2014. They follow the footpath linking Mill Lane and Cross Street and celebrate the important role of insects in the rural community. This area of Gnosall was once the centre of industry in the village with a canal, cement works and flour mill but now the predominant industry is farming for which insects are vital. The windows celebrate this and mark the changing local history. Within the area there are a number of craft and creative practitioners and so the windows are a permanent reminder of this new and upcoming village industry within a thriving farming community.
