Zoar Chapel
Ely, United Kingdom
In the 1840s a break up among Baptists probably led to the founding of the Zoar chapel, seating 100, built in 1846 at the turn of Sun Street, Isleham. In 1851, when three services were held a week its deacon reported average attendances of 50 plus people. It was known as 'Calvinist' chapel from 1858-64 and eventually closed in the mid 1860s. The building has a simple three-bayed front in brick survived as warehouse until the 1990s. Since then it has converted to residence which still holds the charm of being a former chapel.
