Weir Wood Iron

In Roman Britain the High Weald was the principal iron smelting area. Again in the 15th and 16th centuries the area was used for Iron production. The earliest blast furnace is at New Bridge a few miles from this spot. This area is now quiet countryside, but it is interesting to imagine it during the industrial activity of bygone years.
