This district portrays a cohesive grouping of commercial, residential and transportation related structures typical of late 19th and early 20th century development. The first depot, established with train service in 1879, was replaced with the current depot, ca. 1902. The oldest structure in the district is the J.W. Bailey House, ca. 1898, at 742 N. Grove Street. The oldest commercial building is 407 Seventh Avenue, ca. 1905. The district with 32 contributing structures is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
