True Tingsted
Tilst, Danmark
A "tingsted" was a place in villages and small towns where people gathered for events and for settling disputes. Before modern rule of law, disputes were settled on "tinge" where complaints were given and the people decided the fate of the defendant. Punishments were fines, death or a life a an outlaw. Today the "tingsted", in the small town of True, is used as a recreational area where the locals gather for seasonal celebrations and events as well as a picnic area. Tables and benches are available as well as a fireplace for added cosiness. There is an equipment house on the location. Parking is available on premise and pedestrian access is safe - after all, this is how the locals get there!
