Why Do We Need Wetlands?

For all the things they do. Wetlands are wonderful! They help recharge groundwater supplies for our wells, reduce flooding and erosion, act as natural reservoirs and water filters and provided habitat for wildlife. They also contribute to biodiversity and can trap carbon dioxide, keeping it out of the atmosphere. What's more, they do all of that for free!
