The Historic Plantation Home of "Cottonwood" is a survivor of a time when our national unity lost cohesion. One is left to wonder if northern economic interests could have been satiated without so much death. Having exploited, sold, and profited immensely at the expense of so many humans the Yankee traders had sold south into slavery; were they seeking redemption by seizing the high moral ground then destroying their former customers for being customers?
