West River United Church
Cornwall, Canada
The Cornwall United Church actually began in the Methodist tradition in the early 1800's whereby William Crosby of the West River area offered his lodgings to hold services. From 1818 to 1856 the Cornwall Methodist Church belonged to the Charlottetown Methodist circuit. On August 16th, 1842 a transaction between a group of men established a piece of land assigned for a Preaching house. In February of 1902, the existing church was torn down and a newer, larger church built on the same site. On October 19th, 1902 the new church was opened. This church is the same one that stands today.
