North Lagoon

This is the murky North Lagoon that formed after 196th Street was built. The brown color comes from small particles of decomposed peat suspended in the water. If you watch closely, you'll see bubbles bursting on the lagoon's surface: this is methane gas, probably produced by decomposing vegetation under the roadway.
