Daniel Boone Inn

Boone, United States

The Dan'l Boone Inn Before becoming a restaurant, this building which the Inn now occupies served Boone as a doctor's office and residence, as the first hospital in town, and as a rooming house. Mr. and Mrs. Whittaker moved from Wilkesboro and in 1959 opened a family-style restaurant. During the first years of service, only the main dining room was present. Both the front porch and back dining room were later added. Present seating capacity is approximately 130 downstairs and 160 for reserved groups upstairs. The main house, which once served as sleeping quarters for some employees, is now used for lobby space, kitchen offices, and storage.
