Explores Park commemorates the significance of the intersection of the great Western Highway and was completed by Ashfield municipal council as part of Australia's bicentennial celebration. The park was officially opened on 27th August 1988 by the premier of NSW the Honourable N.F Greiner, M.P. The Australian explorers - Thomas Mitchell, Charles Sturt, Friedrich Leichardt, Hamilton Hume, William Hovell, Allan Cunningham, Edward John Eyre, John Oxley, Blaxland, Wentworth, and Lawson.
