In 1769 a young Tahitian boy named Tuatia on board Captain Cook's Endevour was kidnapped and taken on a maori canoe. Shots were fired abd several maori were killed. The boy was rescued near Cape Kidnappers hence the name. Sponsored for Max and Audrey McKelvie, Photograhers of Napier
