Old Greyhound Bus Station

Washington, United States

Constructed in 1940 and restored in 1989-1991, the historic former location of the Greyhound Lines terminal is one of the few remaining examples of art decor architecture in DC. A small exhibit on antique buses is included in the lobby. After years of war and urban decline, in 1976 the facade was redesigned with a then-modern look. But by 1985 buses were waving and real estate was beginning to rise, and the property was sold for redevelopment. Completed in 1991, the building rising above the terminal contributed toward it's restoration to its original facade.
