Earl's Court Station

London, United Kingdom

Earl's Court Road entrance. The station opened on Metropolitan District Railway in 1871, two years after the line itself. The Great Northern, Piccadilly and Brompton Railway (now Piccadilly Line) opened in 1906 and this entrance block was built at that time. Although designed by the District's architect Harry Ford, the building is very similar to those designed by Leslie Green that make up the bulk of the original stations on the Piccadilly, Bakerloo and Northern (Charing Cross branch) lines, the primary difference being the use of beige terracotta as opposed to red.
