On Palm Sunday 1963 Rev NH Smith, Rev John T Porter and Rev AD King lead a sympathy march in support of Martin Luther King Jr, Fred Shuttlesworth, and Ralph Abernathy who were in jail. Joined by 2000 marchers they were met with billy clubs and police dogs. In the heat of the event the three ministers knelt to pray.
