This cemetery was deeded by Major E.L. McElhaney in 1889. McElhaney a veteran of the Battle of Wilson's Creek, served under General Nathaniel Lyon. The first burial, in 1874, was McElhaney's father-in-law William A. Jackson. McElhaney, his wife Margaret A. Jackson McElhaneny Trimble and her mother Catherine Boyd Jackson are buried here, as are several of the McElhaney grandchildren.
