This Sherman tank represents the contributions made by citizens of the community during WWII. Some 332, 000 Wisconsinites, including 9,000 women, served. Almost 8,000 of them were killed and 13,000 wounded. Throughout Wisconsin, women and schoolchildren increased agriculture and industrial production to record levels to support the war effort. The U.S. played a key role in defeating the forces of aggression. Wisconsin contributed its share to the achievement of Allied victory.Donated by the M. H. Shafman family in tribute to all the members of the 32nd Infantry Division.
