Dow Butte Fire Lookout

This structure was once a functional fire lookout on the Eagle Lake Ranger District. The Dow Butte lookout was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1939. It was located on top of the Dow Butte Mountain, approximately 5 miles northwest of Eagle Lake and SAT at 6743 feet in elevation. Dow Butte was in service until 1982.
