Sandburg Park

Madison, United States

This park is named after American poet Carl Sandburg (1878-1967). Sandburg, whose poetry celebrated the laboring classes, the natural beauty of the prairies, and the Midwest cities, was awarded the Pulitzer prize for literature in 1950. Though best known for his poetry, Sandburg competed an acclaimed six-volume biography on Abraham Lincoln in 1939 which, unlike past works of its kind, presented Lincoln's human side as well as his political career.
