In honor of Elizabeth Morgan's 50 years of public service as a teacher and vice principal, the common council, in 1928, named this triangle of land after her and erected a flagpole with a bronze plaque. Miss Morgan was forced to retire at 70 due to local law. She fought this retirement with a case that went all the way too the US supreme court.
