The Glasshouses

Invercargill, New Zealand

Sir Robert Anderson was a keen gardener and was awarded prizes for his bulbs and annuals in the early years of his marriage. Creating the gardens at Victoria Park (as it was known in the early 1900s) was a form of recreation for this generous businessman, who found it a therapeutic outlet from his business cares. These glasshouses (now demolished) would have been central to the upkeep of the extensive gardens and the propagation of its bulbs, annuals and fruit trees.
