F-100D Super Sabre "The Hun"

Glendale, United States

The citizens of Glendale proudly rededicate this aircraft to the military veterans of Arizona who served our country in war and peace to protect and preserve our heritage: a nation conceived in liberty & justice. In 1961, the first of the F 100 Super Sabres were deployed in Southeast Asia and would become the longest serving US jet fighter-bomber to fight in the Vietnam War. The Bonsall Jet that sits proudly on the pedestal before you was commissioned in 1956 and served at the Luke Air Force Base 58th Tactical Fighter Training Wing (TAC) until 1969. It wasn't until November 1971 this very jet was removed from inventory and transferred to museum status. This aircraft and others like it stand as a symbol of freedom. May we all remember the sacrifices of our men and women in uniform, active duty, the reserves and the National Guard.
