Utah Oregon Short Line Railroad
Pleasant Grove, United States
Utah Southern/Oregon Short Line/Salt Lake, San Pedro, and Los Angeles/Union Pacific Railroad Instigated by Brigham Youn and built in 1873, the Utah Southern Railroad running through Pleasant Grove became the first between Salt Lake City and southern Utah communities. The railroad brought a phenomenal change in travel time over horse-drawn wagon and buggy travel. Building the railroad provided needed work for men, and a few women who cooked for railroad crews. It provided other amenities such as easy access to products from eastern states and the shipment of local products to other states. Pleasant Grove, like many other towns, began to prosper after the coming of the railroad.
