The Buhls were a wealthy local family who made a fortune in the Sharon steel industry. Childless, the couple resolved to give back to their community. They founded the Buhl Foundation, Buhl Club, the local library and hospital systems, and the Buhl Farm Park, where these statutes are located. The 300 acre park was open to the public in 1914.
