"Time of a Generation" Sun Dial. The sundial is named "Time of A Generation", which could be understood as word play - sun (son) and the depicted father-son relationship (generation). Perhaps the fact that the piece does not have a motto or a celestial reference, as do many sundials, allows its playful title to be heard. The sundial is made from corten steel, a material used in some contemporary buildings and sculpture. The steel has the appearance of rusted iron, giving the sundial an aged, yet enduring and endearing quality. There's no sense of unfamiliar newness.
