This parish was founded in 1908 by Father William Temple. The property was acquired in 1922. Construction did not begin until 1945. The completion and formal dedication occurred on November 9, 1947. There were one Cardinal, one Archbishop, twenty Bishops, two Abbots, fifty Monsignori, two hundred priests, and two Papal Knights in attendance.
