Bell House

Mount Sterling, United States

This house was built by William Bell, a local hat maker, around 1815. It was purchased in 1870's by the county and became the jailer's residence. The jail was closed and the building abandoned in 1987. The building was given to the Montgomery Historical Society in 1988 and was completely renovated, as nearly as possible to original condition. It was rededicated in April 1992.
