Encounter Over Equality

The site of the former Pickrick Restaurant. Owned by former Georgia Governor Lester Maddox, it was the site of a famous "sit-in" during the civil rights movement. Rather than integrate, Lester closed the restaurant and Georgia Tech bought the land. The land is now part of the green space of the campus of Georgia Tech, which ranks as a leading graduate of African American students.
