Relatively level terrain. Access to island via two bridges. Grassy fields, boardwalk and scattered woodlands with bird-watching opportunities - meadowlark, great horned owls, red-tailed hawks, kestrels. Marshes - bellflowers, blue flag irises, swamp milkweed, beavers, great blue herons, bullfrog. Ties into Bartlett Park District trail system. Two wheelchair-accessible fishing piers on Mallard Lake.
