Powder Mill Valley Historical Marker

Along Cobbs Creek, known to the Indians as Karakung Creek , saw and grist mills using water power were established about 1700. The powder mill operated before 1812. The powder magazine is located north of this marker and remains of the mill dam and mill race may still be seen not far from the place where the Powder Mill Lane forded the stream.
