Murph Monument

Officer Murph was acquired by the Tempe Police Department in February, 1981, and in June, 1982 he was assigned to his handler officer Carlos Azairza. As a team, they received 8 departmental commendations. They participated in 336 building searches, 348 area searches, 24 narcotic arrests and 45 felony arrests. Murph lost his life on the night of November 21, 1986 while helping officers in the extremely hazardous situation. The citizens of Tempe and Murph's friends in the police profession will remember him with fondness and appreciation.
