Painted Hydrant #523

Belmont, United States

In 1976, to celebrate the city’s 50th anniversary and the United States Bicentennial, Belmont organized a contest where city residents painted fire hydrants. This painted hydrant is entry #523. Although it doesn't have an official submission name, it was painted by Ralston Students Tom Carlton, and Pam Haderer, and sponsored by the School Board Trustees. Its original painting had shapes representing the US flag colors (blue, red, and white), including a star in the top, but it has been severely damaged by time.
