Abandoned Lion Enclosure

The lion enclosure in the now abandoned Groote Schuur Zoo. The original lion enclosure was built in 1897 as part of Cecil John Rhodes (1853-1902) private zoo. The original structure was demolished and replaced by the current structure in 1930. The Zoo was abandoned in the 70's and the site has been vacant since 1975.
