James Rumsey

The inventor of the steam boat was born 1743 two miles north of this point in &#8220;Middle Neck&#8221;. <b>George Washington</b> showed much interest in Rumsey’s experiments and made him superintendent of &#8220;The Potomac Company.&#8221;
