James Cardinal Gibbons

The statue depicts James Gibbons. He served as Bishop of Richmond and Archbishop of Baltimore. When he became a Cardinal in 1886 he was only the 2nd American to rise to that rank. The bronze sculpture was produced by sculptor Leo Lentelli and commissioned by the Knights of Columbus to honor their 50th anniversary. The memorial was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.
