Entrance to Burrs Country Park, The Water Wheel sculpture represents the old Burrs "Cotton" Mills that previously occupied the land before being a nature park, the wheel itself is a "head nod" to the self powered mills which used the River Irwell to power the large wheels and In turn the mill and machines within. The Burrs Mills were part of the famous cotton industry which occupied most of North West England in the industrial revolution.
