Alchemist at MIT

Cambridge, United States

Originally on loan for the 150th anniversary of MIT, it is now permanently on display. Created by Catalan sculptor Jaume Plena, it is made of numbers and mathematical functions to represent a thinking man. The sculpture is lit from below at night to project the symbols onto the surrounding area. Student hacked this sculpture with two MIT police badges in honor of MIT Police officer Sean Collier, who was brutally slain in events associated with the Boston Marathon bombing.
