Carbon Canyon Regional Park, Major Jack Armstrong Grove

In the early 1930's, Milton Williams Armstrong planted this grove of trees to shade his family home. Jack, the youngest of the Armstrong children became a squadron leader during World War II. Shot down over Germany, he was held for 22 months in a P.O.W camp. After the war, he continued as a test pilot, dying while attempting to break his own world speed record.
