United States Map

The bronze sculpture map was conceived as a basically true but somewhat simplified outline of the United States. The design is based on a pattern of three transverse raised lines on both the inside and outside of the ribbon forms, which appear at varying intervals and represent the ports of entry into the United States. The spaces in between symbolize in a general way the particular industry or character of that area and are done in low relief. Created by Edgar Britton, 1955.
