VALOR
Craiglockhart
Edinburgh, United Kingdom
This building was a sanatorium used during the First World War to aid in the recovery of shell shocked soldiers. Two of the most famous war poets, Wilfred Owen and Siegfried Sassoon, were sent there to recuperate and wrote much of their most famous work whilst recovering there. Now a campus of Edinburgh Napier University, the building contains a small museum commemorating their work. The campus grounds, university library and the museum are open to the public as the university seeks to become an integral part of the local community.
