Coal Pile Sculpture

COAL PILE The Christchurch Gas Company began manufacturing coal gas in 1864 to the East of this corner. The Gas Works grew into a major industrial plant and large areas of the city were reticulated for gas distribution until 1982 when the site was cleared.
