National Mortgage & Agency Coy. Of N.Z. LTD.
Dunedin City, New Zealand / Aotearoa
The NMAC building was originally built in 1883 as the head office for the Union Steamship Company of New Zealand. Designed by architect David Ross, the building was originally in a rich Italian style. However, after Union Steamship swapped offices with the National Mortgage Agency Company in 1929 (following the move of its head office to Wellington in 1921), the building was ‘modernised’ and its former Victorian style mostly erased.
